... This hospital is get an important and fundamental part of its importance from the greatness and nobility of the city that it bears her name ... Damascus ... And the hospital is not the preserve for the old city, but it and from more than half a century provides all the important medical ,health ,training, educational and nursing  services for Syrian Arab Republic along it, as well as it provides its scientific and academy services, beyond its size as a facility was originally a health ,service ,central , and an important facility in Al-Fayhaa city.
The development that happened in the hospital during the past ten years in particular, has risen it to become among the most important developed hospitals in the country, with special emphasis has been on developing the competencies of quality too specialized at variety  medical and nursing aspects, that without affecting on the qualitative progress at the general medical and nursing servicesas a comprehensive general hospital contain in which it contents the ambulance section receives more than 800 patients a day, and the Outpatient Department receives more than 500 patients a day and offers  them appropriate health services, in addition to General Medical divisions provide services to tens of thousands of patients and for many long years.
And what is given by the political leadership in the country of special attention to the hospital, and at the head the historic visit by the President of the Syrian Arab Republic, Dr. Bashar al-Assad may God protect him to the hospital, on 22/01/2005 had the biggest impact in motivating workers in the hospital on an exceptional performance for advancement of the departments and divisions andaccording to his guidesabout development and modernization.
The hospital Characterized today through diagnostic quality not foundon many other hospitals, and that after it has been equipped with the latest techniques and equipment (CT multi scans-slide, vascular catheterby latest devices D-SA8, resonator - a laser treated cases of trachea and bronchi and lungs, treatment evaluation of vision by laser, the retina operations by latest devices, automated operating room , surgical operation procedures with the latest endoscopic techniques, a limbs cutting device, Department of fragmentation of urinary stones .......).
It also created new sections take into account the qualitative development in the specialized disciplines, with the establishment of specialized and intensive cares in a high degree of accuracy and efficiency, and after achieving the qualitative and excellence progress in the field of kidney transplantation, currently we are working to expand the emergency department because of the need to improve services to citizens, and to create a cardiac catheterization.
All that under the umbrella of the adoption of international quality standards and approved by the hospital made strides with it became a reference and training center and a model for other hospitals and institutions
The hospital has made significant progress in the automation project, which was adopted in the management of the hospital towards the  administrative, medical, semi-full service automation, which live up to the best hospital systems to the latest methods of dealing with the information and data, both medical, administrative or service
